Extremity

Extremity is SURGITENT's first ready to market application designated for surgery of extremities like hand, wrist, forearm, foot, ancle or lower leg. It's design allows for the extremity to be disinfected in a separate Orthosleeve, which then connects to the SURGITENT. Instruments and accessories are introduced via a material loader and presented for use in the airlock. Tubing and cables are fed in through a designated port while surgeons' hands will operate through sleeves attached to gauntlets that are switched to surgical gloves in the first procedural step.

Components & Function

Frame and valves

SURGITENTs are characterized by their unique inflatable structure that effects the unfolding and maintainance of SURGITENT’s shape. The inflatable frame is a patented feature, which provides structural integrity, while enabling surgeons and medical staff to reach any area within the structure.
The frame is inflated by a simple foot pump and requires no additional pumping to maintain it's shape. SURGITENTs are functionally independent and function without the need for powered machinery.

SURGITENTs feature unique glass like windows that allow crystal clear sight of the surgical area. These windows are wrinkle free and even allow the use of microscope glasses. Their angulation assures that reflections from lamps are minimized.

Window

Ports

As an integral part of all SURGITENTs the port is an adaptive feature allowing suction tubes and electro-cautary cables to be lead outside without breaking the hygenic barrier.

Filter

All SURGITENTs are equipped with HEPA filters, ensuring a continuous supply of germ-free air.
Using a passive system of ventilation, a continued exchange of air is provoked by the surgeon’s moving arms. The flexible tent is designed to compress and expand in response to the surgeon’s movement, which results in a pumping mechanism forcing the air to pass in and out through the filters.
While HEPA filters are a simple solution to germ-free ventilation, the use of passive filtering technology in surgical isolators marks a substantive change in perspective. With no need for powered pumps or external filtering machinery SURGITENT presents a simplified solution to germ-free operating.

Gauntlings

SURGITENTs are equipped with an integrated sleeve system that allows medical staff to reach into the enclosure, without compromising the germ-free operating environment.
SURGITENTs are delivered with temporary gloves, which are switched against surgical gloves of preference in the final step of the set up procedure.

Orthosleeve

The SURGITENT Orthosleeve allows patients' extremities to be disinfected prior to be inserted into the SURGITENT through its patient port. Disinfection will be achieved by immersion of the extremity with disinfectant in a closed bag, with included fluid collection providing a highly effective and clean procedure.

Material Loader

As an integral part of all SURGITENTs the material loader is a feature allowing  to perform germ-free transfers of medical equipment by applying a dual lock technique.
The material loader effectively blocks pollutants from entering the enclosure, while enabling surgeons to perform surgery almost as in a conventional OR.

Airlock

The SURGITENT Airlock allows the presentation of instruments and surgical accessories in an adjacent tent, which is slightly offset from the surgical site. It is accessable from the main tent but also has it's own sleeves and filters to allow a third person to handle instruments and accessories.

Baseplate

The SURGITENT baseplate is an optional component of future SURGITENT models. It consists of an adhesive frame that will stick to the incision site. The baseplate also adds structural stability once the SURGITENT unfolds.

SURGIBAG

SURGIBAG is a sealed transfer bag to sterilize instruments and ensure their germ-free transfer into a SURGITENT without compromising the germ-free operating environment.
